---***The Thunderchicken Saga***---

Episode VIII: The Day of the Chicken

Briac proudly stood atop the headquarters of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and scanned the horizon. He knew that he and his minions were in for a visit from those blasted monkeys, but as of yet, there was no sign of them. Briac had never actually faced the monkeys in combat. He was no seasoned veteran himself, just a chicken with a chip on his shoulder. Still, he did not look forward to fighting the monkey army. He took a moment to close his eyes and ponder just it would be like to merely see a mass of monkeys. The noise alone would be terrifying, but if you add alcohol...Briac shuddered at the thought of it.

Extra #2987 opened the door that led to the roof of the Mounties' home. There he saw his mighty leader in a moment of quiet reflection. The extra grinned and approached his master, knowing that he would be remembered in the history of extras everywhere, because he was about to speak, something that few extras ever get to do. He approached the bold leader of the chicken rebellion and stood next to him, being careful to find just the right moment to speak. Briac gave the extra a quick glance and a nod and resumed his pondering; ready to hear whatever pointless babble the nameless fowl may have to offer. #2987 took a deep breath, relaxing him and preparing for what was to be the start of his career as a permanent character in the Thunderchicken Saga. The extra turned to Briac and stared for a brief moment, just enough to get his lord's attention, then he opened his mouth to speak. Slowly, and with feeling, the chicken simply blurted, "Brraaawwwkk!!" and instantly disappeared in a puff of smoke. As the smoke twisted and curled in a dance of torment before it disappeared entirely, Briac merely shook his head and sighed. Damn extras, they never do get their lines right.

Almost as soon as the smoke melted away into nothingness, there was another chicken to take his place. This chicken was different, he had a small set of blue and red decorations resting proudly on his chest, and there was an odd look about him that most certainly originated somewhere around the hat that rested atop his somewhat pointed head. The chicken had something odd protruding from his mouth, it was a long, cylindrical object that appeared to be belching smoke from time to time. Briac knew this was no ordinary extra, this was certainly a new character.

The newcomer turned to Briac and grinned, the odd object shifting to the side of his mouth, looking strange and smelling bad. The chicken immediately spoke, "Lieutenant Carl, mechanized armor division, reporting on the Mounty situation sir." Carl noticed Briac's fascination with the flaming stick and he quickly produced another. "Cigar sir, care for a smoke?" Briac nodded his approval and Carl quickly bit the end off of a fresh cigar, lit it and handed it to his leader.

Briac gently reached out and took the offering from his new ally against the monkeys. This thing, this cigar, was unlike anything he had seen before. Briac shrugged and put the cigar into his mouth, sucking on it slightly just to see what it might taste like. Instantly, the chicken turned green and his world began to spin around him. Briac removed the stick from his mouth and coughed violently for a few moments before smiling and nodding, the experience was considerably better than he expected once he realized that he had set fire to something and then decided to suck on it.

The two chickens stood in silence for a while, but their peace was not to last long. Off in the distance, there was a deafening roar, a horrible sound it was, like a freight train being thrust into a trash compactor while a marching band played, "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" using only kazoos and bassoons. Briac took another puff of his cigar, and after choking for a short while, managed to utter, "Damn monkeys." He looked to Carl, his new aide in his fight for the world domination, and said, "Get the troops ready, Carl. I believe it is time to show these monkeys what a mess of angry chickens can do."
